Draupadi Awashesh

The novel explores the surviving socio-cultural phenomenon of fraternal polyandry (where multiple biological brothers marry a single joint-wife) in the remote, high-altitude Humla district of north-western Nepal.
Rather than a mythical adaptation, it serves as a raw piece of contemporary social fiction. It documents the emotional struggles, shifting power dynamics, internal family resilience, and systemic challenges faced by modern mountain women navigating century-old marital laws.
